GIPA Takes Regional Investment Roadshow to Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions
Accra, Ghana – The Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) is extending its Regional Investment Roadshow (RIR) initiative to the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo regions as part of efforts to unlock investment opportunities and accelerate economic growth in Ghana’s middle belt.
The five-day roadshow, scheduled from July 27 to July 31, 2026, forms part of GIPA’s Investment Opportunity Mapping Project (IOMP), which seeks to identify, validate and package investment-ready projects across the country.
Having successfully conducted similar roadshows in the Volta, Oti, Western, Central and Ashanti regions, GIPA is now turning its attention to the largely agrarian middle belt, an area increasingly recognised for its potential in agribusiness, logistics, eco-tourism and value-added manufacturing.
The programme will feature stakeholder engagements and project showcases in Sunyani, Techiman and Goaso, bringing together Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), traditional authorities, business chambers and local enterprises.
Activities lined up include courtesy calls on Regional Ministers and Regional Houses of Chiefs, media engagements, project site visits and structured business-to-business (B2B) matchmaking sessions aimed at connecting local businesses with potential investors.
Nearly 100 Projects Identified in Three Regions
According to GIPA, a total of 378 investment projects from 188 districts across 15 regions were profiled between July 2025 and June 2026. Of that number, Bono, Bono East and Ahafo contributed 99 projects.
Data from the Authority also shows that the three regions have attracted 57 registered companies and approximately US$383.65 million in foreign direct investment (FDI) between January 1994 and June 2026.
Bono East recorded the highest investment value among the three regions, attracting US$266.9 million across 15 projects, largely driven by agricultural investments.
The Bono Region registered the highest number of companies, with 32 firms contributing about US$56.7 million in investments, mainly in manufacturing and export trading, particularly in cashew processing, timber and other agro-processing ventures.
Ahafo attracted US$60.1 million in investment through 10 registered companies, with significant activity in services, manufacturing, mining support services and construction.
Investors in the three regions originate from countries including India, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, China, Lebanon and Australia, highlighting growing international interest in Ghana’s agricultural and industrial sectors.
Supporting Bankable Investment Opportunities
GIPA says the roadshow is designed to transform local economic opportunities into investment-ready projects capable of attracting both domestic and foreign capital.
Through project exhibitions, pitch sessions and technical support, the Authority will assist MMDAs, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and community groups to refine their ideas into viable investment proposals supported by credible data and market insights.
By the end of the exercise, GIPA expects to develop a verified pipeline of bankable projects and establish an investment intelligence database covering sectors such as agribusiness, agro-processing, storage and logistics, eco-tourism, mining-related value addition and rural industrialisation.
The Authority also intends to strengthen the capacity of regional stakeholders to engage investors and effectively market investment opportunities within their jurisdictions.
Strategic Partnerships
The roadshow is being organised in collaboration with several key institutions, including the Office of the Chief of Staff, the 24-Hour Economy Secretariat, Regional Coordinating Councils, the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry (MOTAI), the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI), the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) and the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).
Morning sessions will focus on stakeholder engagements and presentations on regional investment opportunities, while afternoon sessions will feature project showcases and investor matchmaking activities.
Driving Regional Development
GIPA believes the roadshow will boost the visibility of Bono, Bono East and Ahafo as attractive investment destinations and strengthen investor confidence in opportunities outside Ghana’s major urban centres.
The Authority plans to compile identified projects into a comprehensive investment compendium and continue working with partners after the event to facilitate due diligence processes and advance discussions with prospective investors.
Ultimately, GIPA expects the initiative to translate into concrete investments that create jobs, promote value addition and contribute to sustainable regional development.
The Bono–Bono East–Ahafo Regional Investment Roadshow marks another significant step in GIPA’s broader strategy to position Ghana’s regions as competitive investment hubs and drive inclusive economic transformation through the Investment Opportunity Mapping Project.
