Agric Minister Calls for Stronger Public-Private Partnerships to Enhance Food Security

The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, has underscored the importance of strengthening collaboration between government and stakeholders in the agricultural sector to ensure sustainable food security in Ghana.

According to the Minister, strategic partnerships with private sector players are crucial to supporting government’s efforts to boost agricultural production while reducing the burden on the state.

“A strong partnership between government and private entities is the way forward. Such collaborations complement government’s efforts and contribute significantly to improving agricultural productivity and ensuring food security,” he stated.

Mr. Opoku made the remarks when he received more than 200 bags of fertilizer from ABC Oyeasase Yie Limited at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Accra.

Receiving the donation, the Minister described the gesture as a significant contribution toward enhancing agricultural productivity and supporting the country’s food security agenda.

“This donation comes at a critical time when government is working tirelessly to increase agricultural output and guarantee food security. We appreciate the support from the private sector and encourage more institutions to come on board,” he said.

He noted that improving access to quality agricultural inputs remains essential to increasing crop yields and improving the livelihoods of farmers across the country.

Presenting the items, the Director of ABC Oyeasase Yie Limited, Samuel Adimado, explained that the donation forms part of the company’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector and contributing to national development.

He highlighted the unique qualities of the fertilizer being donated, describing it as a product designed to improve soil fertility and increase agricultural productivity.

“Fertilizers are vital in replenishing depleted soil nutrients, dramatically increasing crop yields, enhancing plant resistance to diseases, and supporting food security for a growing population. To achieve meaningful results in agriculture, farmers must have access to the right fertilizer products,” he stated.

Mr. Adimado further stressed the need for continuous investment in quality agricultural inputs to help farmers maximize production and contribute to national food sufficiency.

ABC Oyeasase Yie Limited is a registered Ghanaian company engaged in commercial imports, agricultural product distribution—particularly organic fertilizers—and public procurement contract bidding through the Ghana Electronic Procurement System (GHANEPS).

The company says it remains committed to supporting Ghana’s agricultural transformation agenda through the provision of innovative and high-quality agricultural solutions aimed at improving productivity and promoting sustainable food production.
