‘Ghana will not be the same after World Congress’- Rev. Wengam

The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, has expressed confidence that Ghana will experience significant transformation following the hosting of the Assemblies of God World Fellowship Congress from October 14 to 16.

Rev. Wengam made the remarks when he appeared on Metro TV’s Morning Show, where he highlighted the expected global participation as well as the economic and spiritual significance of the congress.

DECISION
He said the decision to host the event in Ghana, the first World Congress to be held in Africa, demonstrated the growing influence of the Ghanaian church on the continent and globally.

Rev. Wengam disclosed that representatives from more than 100 countries were expected to participate, with the possibility of nearly 180 countries being represented.

The evening open-air rallies will be held at the Accra Sports Stadium, while the morning conference sessions for pastors, church leaders and potential leaders will take place at the Independence Square.

GLOBAL EVANGELISATION
According to Rev. Wengam, the congress will also serve as a platform to advance the global evangelisation agenda of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship under its MM33 vision.

He explained that the vision, which means “His mandate, our mandate,” seeks to accelerate the evangelisation of the world by 2033, marking 2,000 years since the ascension of Jesus Christ.

He said the global Assemblies of God movement had committed to establishing one million churches in areas without churches, with the World Congress expected to help strategise and mobilise support towards achieving the target.

ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES
Rev. Wengam further noted that the congress would create economic opportunities for Ghana, as international participants would spend foreign currency on accommodation, transportation and other services.

He said investors were also expected to attend the congress, with some already expressing interest in exploring opportunities within Ghana’s economy.

Rev. Wengam also disclosed that the gathering would attract political leaders, including President John Dramani Mahama and a former President of Malawi who previously served as a General Superintendent.

PARTICIPATION
Rev. Wengam urged Christians and the general public to participate in the congress, stressing that the event was not limited to members of Assemblies of God.

He said the gathering would provide an opportunity to pray for Ghana and Africa and expressed confidence in its long-term impact on the country.

“After this Congress, Ghana will not be the same. God’s blessing will fall on this country in a very special way,” Rev. Wengam stated.
