Bishop Saah recalls Assemblies of God connection ahead of World Congress

The President of Dominion Theological Seminary at Action Chapel International, Bishop Emeritus James Kwaku Saah, has reflected on a personal connection with the Assemblies of God community dating back to the early 1980s.

He described the upcoming World Assemblies of God Fellowship Congress in Accra as an opportunity to reconnect with a movement that made a lasting impression on his Christian journey.

The Congress is scheduled for October 14 to 16, 2026, in Accra and is expected to bring together ministers and Christian leaders from around the world.

EARLY CONNECTION
Speaking to AGTV in Accra, Bishop Saah said his relationship with Assemblies of God began shortly after he became a Christian in the early 1980s.

At the time, he had developed an interest in pastoral ministry and hoped to attend an Assemblies of God Bible school as part of his preparation for ministry.

However, he said he was unable to pursue the opportunity because he could not secure the required local sponsorship, which was a condition for admission at the time.

Despite missing the opportunity, Bishop Saah said his admiration for Assemblies of God has remained with him.
“I have very fond memories of Assemblies of God,” he said.

He explained that those memories are often rekindled whenever he encounters an Assemblies of God pastor or member.

A FULL CIRCLE
For Bishop Saah, the World Congress in Accra represents more than an international Christian gathering.

He said he often reminds the General Superintendent of Assemblies of God Ghana that he “nearly became an Assemblies of God pastor,” reflecting how deeply the experience has remained part of his personal story.

The Action Chapel bishop said the Congress will give him an opportunity to fellowship with ministers from different parts of the world while renewing his connection with a denomination he has long held in high regard.

“I’ll take this opportunity to fellowship with brethren, ministers of God who come from many parts of the world,” he said.

WELCOME TO GHANA
Bishop Saah also welcomed international delegates ahead of the event and expressed hope that the gathering will strengthen fellowship within the global Christian community.

He believes the event could also have a wider spiritual impact on Ghana, describing the hosting of the Congress as potentially significant for the country.

“For this meeting to be held in Ghana, God must be opening a certain door that has never been opened,” he said.

He prayed that the Congress would bring “great grace” and enlightenment to Ghana and deepen understanding of the Christian faith.

He also encouraged visiting ministers and delegates to experience Ghanaian fellowship and hospitality during their stay.
