Police to fully roll out TRAFFICTECH-GH from October 1

The Ghana Police Service will begin the full implementation of its automated traffic law enforcement programme, TRAFFITECH-GH, from October 1, 2026.

CAMERAS TO DETECT OFFENCES
The police in a statement explained that through the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), the service will use cameras and Personal Data Assistant (PDA) devices to detect traffic offences and support enforcement of road traffic regulations.

Detected offences it said will be reviewed before an Electronic Notice of Violation (ENV) is issued to vehicle owners or drivers through SMS. The notice will state the offence committed and the prescribed fine.

ROAD SAFETY
The statement indicated that the initiative is part of efforts to improve compliance with traffic laws, promote safer roads and reduce road crashes and casualties.

Motorists, drivers and vehicle owners have been urged to comply with road traffic regulations as the full implementation approaches.
